History on Yule:

Yule comes from the old Norse jól and Old English géohol which was a season of hunting after the harvest was done. This fell in what we now call December so it eventually became associated with the Christmas Holiday. The first recorded use of the noun Yuletide was in 1475.

In the Norse culture, “Jul” refers to the god, Odin. He was celebrated during Yule as well. Yule celebrations included bonfires, decorating with holly, mistletoe and the boughs of evergreen trees, ritual sacrifices, feasts, and gift-giving.

Thors Hammer:

“In the myths Thor's hammer is the most valued treasure of the Gods because Thor uses it to defend both the Gods and humans from the giants. So it represents his sacred function; it's a symbol of his protective role,” explained Norse Mythologist, Dr. Karl E. H. Seigfried. Vikings believed Thor was the god of the sky, weather and thunder. A Thor's hammer worn around the neck as a pendant in Viking times could have been something like a Christian wearing a cross necklace.
